Fencing NZ National Summer Camp 2025

January 2025 National Development Camp Information [Updated 10 Jan 2025]

Venue: Macleans College Gymnasium

Date : 18 – 21 January 

Time: 9.30am – 4.00pm

Daily Registration: Sign in daily. Doors open 9.10am  

What to Bring  

• Fencing gear including Fencing whites (jacket, breeches, glove, mask, fencing socks and shoes, chest protector, lame (as applicable) etc)
• At least 2 working weapons, body wires & mask wires/lames (as applicable) 
• Clothing for both fencing and physical activities. (Includes sports / fencing shoes)  
• Towel
• Skipping rope
• Medical kit (band aids, painkillers, strapping tape, any other things you might need)  
• Prescription medicines (as required) 

2 large drink bottles with water/sports supplements. There are limited water fountains in the area for top-ups

• Food : Snacks and lunch. You will need food that gives you energy. There are no shops close by.
• Training diary / notebook + pen 
• Showers are available

Note: A small amount of fencing clothing may be available to hire for $10 per day.

To ensure fencing gear fits it is recommended you bring your own. Fencers will not be allowed to fence in shorts for safety reasons.

Timeliness 

It is expected that fencers arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled 9.30 start time, sign in and are ready to start promptly. This includes dressed in sportswear, taped up (if required), with full drink bottles on arrival. There is no need to warm-up, that’s part of the daily programme.

Macleans College

The college is located on Macleans Road, reached via BUCKLANDS BEACH ROAD leading from the main highway PAKURANGA ROAD. 

Car-parking and Gym Location

Turn right at the roundabout into Macleans Road, drive past sports courts. There is limited parking in the Staff Car Park at ENTRANCE 2 (marked in RED) due to building work, so some attendees will need to park on Macleans Road. Pedestrian only access is via the path downhill to the Gym complex.

Camp Dinner
A group dinner will be held at Marin Cantina, in Half Moon Bay following Saturday’s programme. Note showers are available at Macleans College.

Marina Cantina has something for all budgets with prices ranging from $8 - $28. It is a 5-minute drive from Macleans College and close to the beach for those that want to go for a stroll or swim before or after dinner.  Parents welcome.
