Description

MUSIC FOR A CAUSE.

OUR MISSION FOR FEBRUARY 20TH:

Ambient Headquarters and Twisted Frequency Festival are fundraising for the Save Our Springs campaign (SOS). Twisted Frequency has been running its festival in the Cobb Valley, where the Tākaka River flows and meets with Te Waikoropupū Springs. The local population draws directly from the massive aquifer that surfaces there for drinking water, making its purity a major community concern. It is renowned as Aotearoas’ largest freshwater springs, a true environmental and cultural treasure, holding some of the world's clearest water.

Because of the Government’s Fast Track Amendment Bill, a toxic mining operation is set to take place, resulting in these waters becoming contaminated with toxic arsenic and cyanide. If this goes ahead, it will mark the beginning of an environmental catastrophe with disastrous consequences.

The Save Our Springs Campaign has been fighting tirelessly to prevent this from happening and we’ve decided to aid and assist this major mission.

FERAL:

The one and only Feral, a Hypnus Records artist and hypnotic techno pioneer, will be headlining our fundraiser. He embodies the spirit of deep techno, of which defines Hypnus Records, through his passion for audio engineering, hardware experimentation and fascination for percussive instruments. Feral’s affinity for the shamanic calls of the tribal drum have led him across the world to discover and nurture his defining sound. We’re beyond blessed to host him for his first touch down in Ōtautahi, and for such a meaningful and crucial cause.

Support A-Z: Brutal Fairy, Caius, Keith, Tom Cosm.

Lineup

  • Feral

    Feral

Marked by his awakened sensibility to depth, Feral consistently carries a thread of spirituality throughout his work. He has inherently embodied the spirit of deep techno, of which defines Hypnus Records, through his passion for audio engineering, hardware experimentation and fascination for percussive instruments. Feral’s affinity for the shamanic calls of the tribal drum have led him across the world to discover and nurture his defining sound. Finding comfort in the solitude of his studio, Feral’s visions emerge in the crepusular hours of his native city, Rome. With a heightened sense of spatial awareness, the sounds of Feral unearth the path of his multidimensional world, transporting the listener to a haunting, yet grounding refuge within.

  • Keith

    Keith

Keith (AKA Root Basis) is the musical manifestation of Lachlan Mears. Born from the insatiable desire to express without limits, Keith is right at home testing, tweaking and tinkering with new ways to manipulate sound. Exploring the domain that borders the earnest and the absurd, Keith invites the listener to fuse with the machine-human interface. As the journey unfolds, the structure reveals an emergent narrative of familiar, yet undefined origin, traversing the realms of experimental trance music and beyond, diving head first into the unknown. In this performance, the intention is to explore the intersection between slambient and deep tekno, cultivating a soundscape that feels deeply embedded in ritual.

  • Brutal Fairy

    Brutal Fairy

Brutal Fairy, formerly known as Déjà-Vuduu, is a DJ and producer rooted in Aotearoa’s underground. She's known for crafting immersive journeys that move between atmosphere and emotion. For this opening set, she leans into swampy, melodic & euphoric downtempo, slow-burning, textured, and minimal, setting the stage for an evening of hypnotic exploration.

  • Tom Cosm

    Tom Cosm

Tom has revolutionized the algorithms behind making electronic music and has encouraged other artists in Aotearoa / around the world to see the world in terms of frequency. If he isn't creating his soundscapes totally off the fly using live digital technology, he is retrieving data directly from the environment around him to input into sound making gadgets. A deeply respected name in the music scene, he’s the co-creator of the ‘Orchid’ synthesizer, dreamt up by Kevin Parker (Tame Impala).

  • Caius

    Caius

Caius, specialises in textural, atmospheric, subterranean sounds and provides a consistently primal, hypnotic and psychedelic nature. Convinced this sound stands a chance at forming a community united by the blurriness between genres not separated by them, his goal is to unite people through ground-breaking sound and art and his meticulous sets and track selection reflects that. Expect an introspective journey, with a focus on intricate sound design & wet soundscapes. The slow unraveling awaits…
