    Feral Pigs Information Session 

    New and emerging populations of feral pigs have been reported along the Deep Creek and Boyd Creek valleys, in and near Darraweit Guim. Feral pigs have the potential to cause significant damage to farm productivity and the environment. This is a community event aimed at landholders to raise awareness of the issue and potential management actions.

    Presentations topics will include:

    • awareness raising for those who may not have observed feral pigs
    • potential damage that feral pigs could cause to agriculture and the environment, if left untreated
    • what signs to look for, how to confirm feral pigs presenceand other monitoring methods
    • control methods
    • forming a coordinated approach to manage the problem as a group
    • support available

    Speakers:

    • Darraweit Guim landholder, Peter Maguire, will share his recent experience monitoring and controlling feral pigs
    • Dr Heather Channon, National Feral Pig Management Coordinator
    • Fraser Harrison, Agriculture Victoria

    This is a free event being run by the Upper Deep Creek Landcare Network and the Upper Maribyrnong Catchment Group. 

    Dinner (pizza's) provided at 6:30pm, followed by speakers at 7:00pm.
