Fergus Aitken HONESTY HOUR
Event description
The funniest stories are so often the truth. Wellington comedy favourite Fergus Aitken returns,
with a stand-up show that will leave you in stitches. A rollicking hour of true stories and honest
observations from his often-eccentric world, peppered with plenty of everyday mistruths we
mainly seem to accept as fact... Today’s truth is apparently whatever people choose to believe.
Recently Fergus has been refreshing a selection of adventures, fun facts, and myths. Some
of life's little mysteries will be expanded and exploded! With a stand-up comedy style based
strongly in physical theatre and storytelling, he spins a yarn – and some of it’s even true. “I
love observational comedy”, says Aitken, “Some of the funniest things I’ve ever heard are
true”. Growing up in bogan NZ; Kiwis traveling; Having a name people struggle with; The
torments of addiction; The joys of Covid; Second marriage and being a father again at 56...
In a varied comedy career spanning four decades and 15 countries, Fergus has experienced
many bizarre encounters with the truth... including several standing ovations at nudist
festivals. Fergus has achieved critical acclaim with his stand-up and character performances,
playing regularly at comedy clubs and events throughout Aotearoa and beyond. Fergus has
also been a living mannequin at Madam Tussaud’s in London, mimed in Moscow, juggled with
the NZSO, hosted rock concerts, played pre-show to 3,500 people a night at the World of
Wearable Art, and he was once (inadvertently) a warm-up act for the Wiggles at Sweetwaters.
Come out and tickle your funny bone with an evening of hilarity, featuring Fergus Aitken!
