    Event description

Fermentation is great for gut health, preserving excess garden produce and adding flavour to your diet. This workshop is hands on and will share the process of lacto-fermentation and how to do it step by step. Your Instructor Edith will cover:

    • Overview of the lacto fermentation process
    • How to ferment safely and what to watch out for
    • Basic equipment to acquire
    • Hands on making of:
      • Sauerkraut
      • Kimchi
      • Kombucha
    • Overview of other simple ferments to try
    • Tastings of these and other fermented products

Leave with a jar of Sauerkraut or kimchi, a kombucha scoby, a recipe book and the knowledge to make much more at home.

Most equipment and materials are provided, but please bring 1x 750 and 1x 250ml clean glass jars for your products.

We strongly recommend wearing masks for all our indoor workshops. Our weekly farmer's market will be in full swing during your workshop, so it's worth arriving a little early to check out the stalls and maybe buy some fresh produce.

Perth City Farm is a community urban farm that supports connected, sustainable communities. Established on a former industrial site in East Perth, this polluted site has been lovingly rehabilitated by volunteers to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement. We provide space and opportunities to build community connections, and educate and enable people to live sustainably.
