Festival of Nature Compost Tour

Heart of BS13 is a charity tackling health inequalities set in Hartcliffe and Withywood, an area of very high social deprivation, yet we are still creating climate action together, bringing back hope for nature and biodiversity and our community.

We are working with local schools and businesses to compost food waste to bring life back to our soils and share with our wonderful community to grow more to feed nature and us!

Compost is the bottom of the food chain and as we have over 30 piles we have an abundance of wildlife including, slow worms, snakes, mice, frogs, toads, gazillions of insects, bats, red kites, hedgehogs and more! Come on our compost safari tour to see what happens to food waste from 17 south Bristol businesses and 2 local schools, and see how we grow flowers to support the work we do in BS13.

Accessibility information

The surface of the floor is quite stoney and grassy so wheelchair access is limited but wheelchair users can certainly enjoy the food waste compost area. Supervised children only, one adult per 2 young children. Not too much walking to do although track is quite stoney.

• Accessible by number 75 bus or other buses to Hengrove area

• Bikes can be brought inside the gate and tied to railings

• Limited car parking spaces but parking is available in residential streets nearby
