Festival series: National Cherry Festival in Young
Event description
Get ready for the excitement of all things ‘cherry’ with our coach trip to the National Cherry Festival in Young.
Departing Canberra at 8am, our first stop of the day will be at Ballinaclash Orchard and Cellar Door. Here, you will get to pick your own cherries (and possibly apricots if they are ready). There will also be plenty of time to explore the cellar door and shop to pick up some unique gifts.
- The entry fee to Ballinaclash to pick your own cherries is included in your ticket price.
- Cherries sell at $11/kg with a minimum pick/spend of 1kg per person.
Once you have completed your cherry picking and shopping, we are off to the main centre of Young to join in the fun and festivities of the 73rd National Cherry Festival. There promises to be plenty of market stalls, and thrill seekers can enjoy the excitement of Carnival Alley.
Crowd pleasers include:
- 1:30pm: Celtic Tattoo Massed Band Spectacular
- 2:30pm: Wilders Bakery Cherry Pie Eating Championship.
Of course, we can’t go all the way to Young and miss one of the best highlights of any festival: the street parade! The parade kicks off at 4pm, and we will be departing Young once the parade has wrapped up.
