Have you ever wondered what it's actually like to be a Fruit Fly?

The Flying Fruit Fly Circus School is throwing open the doors on Monday 22 June for a special open evening for prospective students and families. Whether your child is acrobatically inclined, creatively curious, or simply bursting with energy, this is your chance to find out if the Fruit Flies could be their place.

What is the Flying Fruit Fly Circus School?

Australia's National Youth Circus has been training young performers since 1979. All of our full-time students combine circus training with a complete academic education. For students in Years 3 to 9, that schooling takes place at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus School, a specialist school within the Victorian public education system exclusively for our young circus artists, located in Wodonga.

Our program is built around four pillars: Creative, Academic, Physical, and Social. A typical week blends classroom learning with circus training across disciplines like aerial, acrobatics, balance, and manipulation, with each student's journey tailored to their age, level, and interests. It's an education designed for kids who don't sit still - and that's exactly the point.

You don't need to be dreaming of a career in circus to thrive here. Many of our students and families are simply looking for a school environment where energy, creativity and physical confidence are celebrated rather than managed. Our graduates leave with a well-rounded education and a remarkable set of life skills - resilience, teamwork, focus, and a deep belief in what they're capable of.

What's on the night?

Come and get a real feel for life as a Fruit Fly. The evening includes:

• An introduction from our circus and school leadership team, with a walkthrough of what a typical day looks like for students at different year levels

• A tour of our school classrooms

• Plenty of time for your questions

Who should come?

This evening is for families with children currently in Years 2 to 8 who are curious about a different kind of education. Whether your child is already flipping off the furniture, has a passion for performing arts, or you're simply drawn to a school where physical activity and creativity are woven into every day, we'd love to have a conversation.

No circus experience is necessary, just curiosity and an open mind.

Auditions for the 2027 program will be held on 28 and 29 September 2026.
