Field Day: Fish

Join Clockshop to learn about local wildlife and aquatic species in the Los Angeles River Watershed! At the water’s edge, wildlife enthusiasts of all skill levels will learn about the species of the river, both native and nonnative, as well as thriving and locally extinct. Attendees will also have a chance to cast a line themselves, guided by Sam Reese, and Derek Yee will lead a gyotaku demonstration, a traditional Japanese method of printing fish. Facilitators will share the current status of the LA River and the forthcoming Bowtie Wetland Demonstration, a 3.5-acre stormwater filtration and habitat project by The Nature Conservancy.

Field Day is a series of all-ages, outdoor workshops inviting the public to learn about and engage with urban habitats, wildlife, and waterways in the Los Angeles River watershed. Clockshop first programmed this series at the Bowtie Project between 2017 and 2018 in collaboration with artists, educators, and California State Parks.

ACCESSIBILITY
Parking and Arrival

• By car: There is street parking surrounding the building. If you are driving, we recommend searching for parking on Clearwater St, Fruitdale St, and Gilroy St. Please be mindful of two-hour parking on Ripple Street. We always recommend carpooling or ridesharing as parking availability can be impacted by neighbors like Salazar and Zebulon.

• By bus: There are two bus stops nearby: 603 on Fletcher/Ripple and 182 on Fletcher/Crystal.

• By bike: You are welcome to bring in your bike for safekeeping.

Wheelchair Accessibility
Clockshop’s courtyard and building are wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms
There are two all-gender, single-stall restrooms on-site.
