Please join Bush Heritage Australia for an informative day at Nardoo Hills Reserves in North Central Victoria.

You will see firsthand our work in action as we walk over the project site at Spring Paddock, and talk about the project's concept and design, integrated restoration activities, and ecological monitoring framework.

The day aims to be broadly relevant to farmers, land managers, and bush property owners across North Central Victoria, who are eager to restore health and productivity of ecosystems.

Nardoo Hills Reserves is located in North Central Victoria, approximately 12 km from Wedderburn or 35 km from Charleville. See meeting point details below.

Transport
Participants need to arrange their own transport to reach the meeting point. From here only high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles (4WD) can travel onto the reserve. You therefore have two options:

Get a lift in a Bush Heritage (limited places); or
Choose to drive your own high-clearance 4WD ie Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Patrol etc. Please let us know at checkout if you are happy to take other passengers. NOTE: SUV/AWD vehicles are not suitable, i.e. Subaru Outback, Nissan X-Trail etc.

Meeting point
Bush Heritage staff will meet you at Wedderburn public toilet carpark - CLICK HERE for Google Maps. Please arrive by 9.30 am for 10.00 am departure. This will give us time to provide a short briefing and load into vehicles before convoying over Mt Kerang to the project site. We unfortunately can’t wait for latecomers.

Fitness
You need to have reasonable fitness and mobility for climbing in and out of vehicles and undertaking a walk across the project site. The distance won’t be long and the pace will be gentle, but the terrain can be hilly, uneven and rocky underfoot.

Food and drink
A picnic lunch will be provided. Please bring your own water bottle and any snacks you want for the day. There is a local café in Wedderburn where you can grab morning tea before meeting us at 9.30am.

Facilities on Nardoo Hills Reserve
There are public toilets at the meeting point but no toilets onsite. Any toilet breaks will need to be taken in nature. Mobile phone reception is patchy.

What to bring

Clothing suitable for being in the outdoors and walking in the bush, including sturdy footwear, long trousers or gaiters
Layers for warmer or colder conditions, sun hat, beanie and rain jacket
Day pack for carrying your gear
Optional – walking poles, camera, binoculars, travel mug, picnic chair

Cost
There is no charge for this trip.

Weather
In the event of severe weather or flooding, this event may need to be postponed. We will attempt to contact you in advance if this situation arises.

COVID safety
Bush Heritage will continue to try to make this a COVID-safe event. We ask for your assistance by not attending if you are feeling unwell or if you are COVID-positive. Participants are welcome to wear face masks if you choose.

The Spring Paddock Watershed Repair Project is a collaboration between Bush Heritage Australia (BHA) and Biolinks Alliance that aims to repair landscape health and build resilience to Climate Change by scaling–up measures that help make watersheds more absorbent and productive. The project aims to demonstrate how to repair past environmental damage and why the approach is urgently needed more broadly in the region. The project is focused on a micro–watershed at Nardoo Hills Reserves near Wedderburn in North Central Victoria.
