Fiesta tours: History and sustainability at Addi Road
Description
Addi Road turns 50 on Saturday 17 October. Take a walk around our nine-acre site with the people who know it best.
Living Museum tours: 11am and 12 noon
In 1976, a handful of migrant groups banded together and made this place their own. It became a place for festivals, performances, language and culture. Soon after it opened, Al Grassby called it ‘one small world in Australia’.
Sue Castrique wrote the history of the centre, One Small World. She’ll take you to the places where history was made and tell you about the people who made Addi Road what it is today.
Sustainability tour: 1pm
Ashley Wearne spent 12 years managing renewable energy and climate projects across Uganda, Mozambique and East Timor. Now he leads Addi Road’s environmental initiatives. He’ll show you how our sustainable community site operates, and send you home with ideas for your own backyard, balcony or street.
