Join Total Environment Centre for a special evening exploring 50 years of environmental action, collaboration and policy change in Australia. Together, we’ll explore what helps environmental initiatives achieve lasting change, and the role we each play in making it happen.

Fighting for a Green Future is a seven-part Australian environmental documentary series celebrating the people, campaigns and ideas that have shaped Australia’s environmental movement.

Featuring voices including Tim Flannery, Bob Carr, Zali Steggall, Jeff Angel, Brad Moggridge, Peter Whish-Wilson, Laura Wells, John Seed, Cerin Loane and Juniper Riordan, the series explores how communities, campaigners, scientists, First Nations leaders and advocates have worked together to protect nature, influence decisions and create lasting environmental change.

Through stories of advocacy, environmental campaigns, scientific research and community action, Fighting for a Green Future highlights an important lesson from the past 50 years: meaningful change happens when people and organisations come together around a shared vision.

Following the screening, join a panel discussion exploring what it takes to create lasting environmental change, from strong organisations and effective advocacy to philanthropy, collaboration and community leadership.

Jeff Angel | Executive Director, Total Environment Centre

Jeff is Executive Director of Total Environment Centre and has been campaigning for environmental protection for more than 50 years. He has led and contributed to campaigns on environmental law, pollution, waste and resource recovery, nature protection and sustainable cities. Through advocacy, community engagement and collaboration, Jeff has helped drive changes in policy, law and environmental practice across Australia. 

Jon Pratten | The Pratten Foundation

Jon is a long time environmental campaigner and philanthropistto protect Australia’s natural environment. He is supporting Total Environment Centre’s Fighting for a Green Future community screening program, helping bring the documentary series and its stories of environmental action to communities. John brings the perspective to the discussion about how people and philanthropy can contribute to lasting environmental change. 

Stephanie Carrick | Project Manager, Total Environment Centre Sydney Basin Koala Network

Steph manages Total Environment Centre's Sydney Basin Koala Network, leading community and advocacy efforts to protect koala populations, habitat and wildlife corridors across the Sydney Basin. She has a background in environmental communication and conservation, including completing a Master of Climate Change, and rescuing wildlife. She has extensive prior experience managing programs and communities at ABC, triple j and SBS.

Trevor Thomas | Executive Chair, Ethinvest

Trevor joined Ethinvest, Australia's oldest ethical financial advisory, in 1997 and was appointed Executive Chair in July 2026, after 18 years as Managing Director. Prior to Ethinvest, Trevor spent six years in South America working in economic development. He began his career as an economist for one of Australia's major banks, as well as AP Dow Jones Telerate. He holds an Economics degree from Sydney University and an MBA from Eastern University in Philadelphia. In 2003, Trevor became a Certified Financial Planner.

Trevor is a trustee of various philanthropic organisations, including the John T Reid Charitable Trusts, the Ethinvest Foundation and the Community Impact Foundation. He is passionate about global justice and advocacy and has served as a staff member and the board of Tearfund Australia. He is currently Chair of Micah Australia and on the boards of the Darwin Challenge and Bowerbird Collective.
