Fighting for Wolli - Sunday 12 November -9.30am to 12 noon – Turrella Reserve to Tempe

Would you like to find out more about saving the Wolli Creek Valley? On this walk we will share the histories about the battles, past and present, to protect the Wolli Creek Valley bushland from neglect, motorways, development and other threats to this precious bushland.

This walk will be led by long term Wolli Creek Preservation Society (WCPS) member, Peter Stevens. Peter was awarded the inaugural Jack Mundey Environment and Heritage Award by Canterbury-Bankstown Council. This was awarded in recognition of Peter’s contribution to the Wolli Creek Preservation Society, where he has for many years been involved in various struggles to save the Wolli Creek Valley.

Peter will share the history and significance of a number of the struggles. Come and hear more about our history and the ongoing campaigns WCPS is involved in to finally complete the regional park.

This will be a slow-paced 3km walk almost entirely on natural surfaces but is mostly level walking tracks although some areas may be eroded and/or be crossed by tree roots and require extra care to be taken. You should wear good walking boots or shoes, with a good gripping sole. We will be going up Nannygoat Hill, which is a short, steep climb, but you can wait this part out if you wish.

This walk is not suitable for children under 12 years of age and all young people up to 17 years must be accompanied by an adult.
