Event description

Presented in conjunction with Pedal Power ACT, the ACT's cycling organisation.

Minimum four people needed for this tour to proceed.

From political dramas to horror and sci-fi films and a Bollywood love scene set beside Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra has for decades been a prime location for many creative people working in the film and TV industries.

This tour celebrates such people and places, and is your chance to trace some of those locations by bike, including some of the car versus garbage truck chase from the 2022 Liam Neeson action film, Blacklight. That Arch camera in our banner image was attached to a grey Audi that chased the garbage truck and "Neeson's" Dodge Challenger in the movie, for which Canberra doubled as Washington DC.

Films discussed include Blacklight, Blue World Order (2017), Joe Cinque's Consolation (2016), The Castle (1997) and this 6-minute love song from Indian film, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage (2002).

TV shows we'll cover include The Code (season one, 2014), Total Control (2019-24), Secret City (2016-19), The Hollow Men (2008), and Rake (season 5, 2018).

This tour starts on the edge of the ANU campus (where parts of The Code and Joe Cinque's Consolation were filmed) and finishes at that one place which features on Australian TV news pretty much every night - the Australian Parliament House.

PS: If you've been a cast or crew on the above productions or others made in Canberra, please get in touch as we'd love to hear your story.
