The inspiring directive from Holocaust survivor, Margot Friedlander. Director Thomas Halaczinsky captures her indomitable and vivacious spirit - a woman determined to make a way for herself in this world, not merely survive.

North Fork based director Thomas Halaczinsky shares two of the films he made about Holocaust survivor and beloved human rights advocate, Margot Friedlander: DON'T CALL IT HEIMWEH and LATE RETURN. These films follow Margot's evolution in the last decades of her long and impactful life from New York resident to Berlin-based human rights activist.

For this program we have intentionally scheduled the films with an hour break to encourage audience members to digest the content of the first film over light refreshments provided by LIM before returning for the second film to be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.

Your pre-registration grants you complimentary museum admission all day Thursday, November 13th (Thursday Museum hours are 11:30am to 7:00pm) to explore LIM’s Giants and Gems exhibitions in the Art Museum, and our world-class carriage collection with nearly 100 horse-drawn vehicles in our Carriage Museum. Please check in at the LIM's Visitors Center to get your complimentary Museum Pass.

Directions to the Visitors Center: If you are coming early to visit the Museum galleries, please stop first at our Visitors Center to pick up your visitors pass. The Visitors Center is located on our west campus, building no. 1 on the attached map (input "1200 Route 25A, Stony Brook" into a GPS to land on LIM's west campus).

The event takes place in the Gillespie Room of the Carriage Museum. Due to the climate controls for the exhibits, the room is chilly. Please bring a sweater or light jacket for comfort.
