Transform your stories into portfolio pieces in this hands-on filmmaking program as part of our youth program The Spark.
Led by industry professional Apurva Gupta, young people aged 16-24 years old will dive deep into every aspect of the filmmaking process. From crafting interesting characters and writing dynamic scripts to mastering camera techniques and editing software, this intensive program gives you the tools to bring your vision to life.
What you’ll experience:
- Professional guidance in script development and storyboarding
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment
- Practical workshops in directing, cinematography, and sound design
- Post-production techniques, including editing and sound mixing
- Collaborative teamwork in a supportive environment
- A portfolio piece for your portfolio
Work alongside other passionate young creators in an intimate group setting that ensures personalised attention and maximum learning. Whether you dream of directing blockbusters or creating engaging digital content, this program is your first step into the world of professional filmmaking.
Limited to 12 participants to ensure quality mentorship. All equipment provided. No prior experience necessary – just bring your creativity and dedication!
As part of Centre for Stories’ the Spark, this unique program has been fully funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Healthway, meaning there will be no costs for you.

Mentor’s Bio: Apurva is Writer, Director & Cinematographer based in Boorloo (Perth, Western Australia). With her roots in the North of India, she now pursues her artistic passions in Australia, showcasing on diverse stories on film and in theatre with a special focus on experiences of People of Colour. She aims to subvert genres and create nuanced art on culture.
She is a Master of Arts in Screen Arts and works as the lead Producer at Limitless Studios producing TV Commercials, Commercial and Corporate content. Apurva is passionate about capturing and creating visual arts, theatre and music, and operates intensively as a multiplatform artist.
