Supporting Women in Afghanistan: Film Screening of Bread & Roses (2023)

The Support Association for the Women of Afghanistan (SAWA), University of Adelaide Politics and International Relations Association (PIRA) and Adelaide University Film Society (AUFS) are collaborating in support of women in Afghanistan living under the devastating regime of the Taliban.

Together, we are hosting a film screening of Bread and Roses (2023) on 6 June 2025 at the University of Adelaide. 

Entry is free but donations will be welcomed for SAWA's humanitarian projects helping women on the ground across Afghanistan.

SAWA-Australia (SA) Inc. provides assistance for projects dedicated to the advancement of the rights of Afghanistan’s women in all areas.  The primary focus is to support a vocational training centre for women. 

The centre provides training and education to 200 women and girls despite the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021. Shirin a student at the centre learning English says that she refuses to let her dreams fade and will never surrender to despair.
