Event description

As recently as June 2023, the Dare to Struggle Film Project was in Occupied Palestine, documenting the lives and experiences of Palestinian people. They spent a month gathering footage, conducting interviews and exploring the Palestinian people's struggles to end the apartheid settler colonialism of the Israeli state.

Palestine Under Siege shows us what the Palestinian struggle looks like, and invites us to play a crucial role in international solidarity.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers, Jill Hickson and John Reynolds, and recent Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon, and there will be a chance to discuss the issue with the group. Come and ask your questions, and connect with our community of people who want justice and liberation for the Palestinian people.

Fundraising to help Palestinians:
This event is ticketed to raise money for two organisations that directly support Palestinians as they struggle for their rights:

  • Human Rights Defenders are a grassroots non-profit organisation based in Hebron/El Khalid are profiled in the film. Human Rights Defenders have a proud history of using cameras to document and prevent acts of injustice in the West Bank. Since 7 October, Israeli violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has surged to levels not seen for decades, with hundreds killed and thousands injured by Israeli settlers, with the support of Israeli forces. The money we donate will supply the Hebron/El Khalid community with mobile phones and cameras so they can continue to document the abuse and violence. As filmmakers, Dare to Struggle supports their work documenting abuse in order to expose it to the world community.
  • Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF; Doctors Without Borders) provides medical and psychological assistance to people affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Their capacity to provide care changes daily; for updates on their activities please click here. MSF is a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
