Event description

Indulge in Melbourne rooftop summer vibes while watching short films and networking, back at Loop Roof in January 2025. Filmonik is an open-screen short films screening getting you the freshest short films on a big screen on a leafy CBD rooftop. So fresh, some films are completed on the same day for the event. You shall expect comedies, a bit of drama, maybe some animations, there's generally one suspense/thriller, one or two music videos, some fun trash, horror or kinky stuff. The truth is, we don't know but it's always been immediate, spontaneous, crafty, fun, inventive, weird and with urgent, current films.

Exceptionally this month we'll start with a round of cast and crewing so any filmmaker who has a project to pitch for 2025 can do so in 2 minutes or less, until the sun has set, and we can watch the short films once it's dark enough.

FILMS UNRATED (18+ by default) Content may offend.

FILMMAKERS: This Jan 2025 screening is already pretty full so submit in advance at filmonik.com.au/submit-your-film. Usually we accept spontaneously submitted short films under 5 minutes of any genre and of all filmmaking levels and this has been creating awesome and balanced screenings for the public. A quick QA with the host follows each film. Organize your own premiere with us or run a cheeky pre-premiere of your festival film. Guidelines here: filmonik.com.au/how-to-screen.

Filmonik is part of the worldwide Kino movement active in 35 countries around the world.
