FILTER:

To separate, refine, or distil.

To make sense of complexity.

To shape what gets through, and what doesn’t. To choose what we absorb, amplify, or block out.

FILTER is the third event in our 2025 Perspectives series, held at ILUMINA - a new event space above the Martin Place metro station in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. It’s an exciting new home for Perspectives, one that invites fresh energy and broader perspectives.

Join us as three leading creatives from different industries share how they interpret this theme, through stories of clarity, curation, and the decisions that define their creative lens.

Dean WIlliams - Founder, Architect George

Dean established Architect George, an emerging architecture studio in Sydney, in 2021. He has a passion for creating bespoke, residential architecture delivered through a collaborative approach with clients. Dean enjoys creating homes that are surprising and joyful.

Sara Vita - Photographer

Sara Vita is an architectural photographer with a background in architecture, having studied at the Polytechnic School of Madrid and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. After ten years working as an architect in Madrid and Sydney, she moved into photography, bringing her design knowledge into a visual practice that helps people see and understand architecture. She approaches photography like drawing: using light, shadow, and composition to capture and explain buildings.

Clarence Slockee - Founder, Jiwah

Clarence is a Cudgenburra/Bundjalung man from the Tweed Valley on the north coast of NSW. A NAISDA Dance College and UTS Business School graduate, he blends culture, ecology and design as founder and director of Jiwah, a 100% Aboriginal-owned practice creating urban green spaces with native species.
With 20+ years in environmental and cultural education, including roles at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Barangaroo Delivery Authority, Clarence is also a familiar face on ABC’s Gardening Australia, where he shares knowledge of medicinal, cultural and edible native plants.
