Managing money as a creative can be challenging, especially when income is irregular, projects vary, and financial responsibilities can feel overwhelming. Whether you're an artist, designer, musician, performer, maker, photographer or creative freelancer, this practical workshop will help you build confidence in the financial side of your creative practice.

Delivered in two parts by financial specialist Darkwave and arts industry specialists Auspicious Arts, you'll gain a clear understanding of the essentials of running a creative business. Learn about ABNs, business structures, GST, invoicing, record keeping, tax responsibilities and compliance, before exploring the realities of working as a creative professional.

The second session focuses on the financial decisions that support a sustainable creative career, including employees versus contractors, contracts and payments, superannuation, insurance, allowances and deductions, and pricing your work with confidence.

You'll leave with practical knowledge, useful resources and a clearer understanding of how to manage your finances, meet your obligations, and make informed decisions that support the long-term success of your creative practice.

Perfect for: Artists, creatives, freelancers, sole traders, makers and anyone running or starting a creative business.

Hosted by Platform Arts and Creative City, City of Greater Geelong.
