Event description

Part 2 of the “Financial Inclusion Starts With You” Virtual Workshop Series

Delivered in Partnership with Diversily

🗓️ Thurs 16th Oct, 11:00-13:00 | 2 hours | 💻 Online & Interactive

Spot the Gaps. Build for Belonging.

Inclusion isn’t just about who you design for—it’s about how you design. In this interactive, hands-on session, we’ll help fintech and financial services SMEs uncover where exclusion may be unintentionally built into their products, services, and decision-making processes.

You’ll learn to identify common barriers that prevent people from accessing, using, or trusting financial services—and explore practical ways to address them. Through guided exercises and inclusive design frameworks, you’ll leave equipped to spot exclusion and take action across the product lifecycle.

What You’ll Gain

  • Define what inclusion should deliver
Ground your thinking in the outcomes that matter—for your business (e.g. better performance, smarter decisions, greater reach) and for your users (e.g. autonomy, dignity, equity, trust).

  • Explore your current services
Uncover real or potential exclusion points in your current products and services—from “app-only” support to rigid eligibility rules.

  • Map the barriers
Explore seven types of exclusion barriers—awareness, access, eligibility, engagement, education, exit, and trust—and identify where friction or failure may occur in your customer journeys.

  • Spot opportunities for inclusion
Shift your lens from customer pain points to business practices. Identify where and how to embed inclusion—from diverse participation and bias disruption to inclusive language, flexible design, and feedback loops..

Who Should Attend?

This session is ideal for teams involved in product, customer service or experience design within fintech and financial services SMEs. Whether you’re building new features or reviewing existing ones, you’ll gain practical tools to make your offerings more inclusive and effective.

To get the most value from this session, we strongly recommend that 2–3 individuals from each organisation attend. This collaborative approach helps uncover a deeper understanding of your current processes and capabilities—empowering your team to drive meaningful, innovative change.
