Guest Speakers
Mel Pearce
Mel Pearce is a dynamic finance professional with over 20 years of experience in the industry. She began her career in mortgage broking at just 18, and by 21 had already launched her first business in Melbourne. Since then, she has held senior lending roles at People’s Choice Credit Union and NAB, gaining deep insights into banking, lending and corporate structures.
Motivated by a desire to make a meaningful impact, Mel co-founded The Money Collective with Darlene Neu. A qualified Australian Credit Representative and MFAA-accredited broker since 2004, she brings both expertise and empathy to her work. Mel is known for her ability to truly listen and understand her clients’ stories, helping countless Australians achieve their financial goals.
She is also a proud advocate for women in finance and a passionate voice for positive change across the sector. Mel believes finance can and should be a force for good, and is committed to shaping a more inclusive and empowering future.
Darlene Neu
With over 30 years of experience in finance, including senior leadership roles and direct work with everyday Australians, Darlene Neu co-founded The Money Collective to change the way we think and talk about money. The organisation’s mission is to build confidence and empower people to use money as a tool to live the life they want.
After completing her MBA and spending decades in the corporate world, Darlene was ready to create something more purpose driven. Financial education, genuine connection and community lie at the heart of everything she does. She believes that when people understand money, they feel empowered rather than overwhelmed, and that is when real change becomes possible.
Outside of work, Darlene is a proud mum to Logan and Lily, wife to Dennis and a country girl from Northern Tasmania. She is also a big tennis fan, more watching than playing, and cares deeply about wellbeing. She describes herself as a lifelong work in progress.
About Mel and Darlene’s Work
Mel and Darlene empower people through education and practical support. Drawing on over 50 years of combined experience, they are committed to making financial literacy more accessible and helping individuals build confidence in their financial decisions.
