David Gillespie

"Musically, David Gillespie has worn many hats. A lifetime musician who got his start at 9 years old and spent middle school and high school locked away in the band room, David has performed as a trombonist for ska band Necktie Killer, frontman for alternative rock outfit Bravey Don, and as a musician-for-hire performing everything from funk to hip hop to metal in his home state of Oregon.

But in 2021, David decided that a change was overdue. He packed everything he owned in a pair of cheap duffle bags and moved from Portland, OR to North Carolina, sight unseen. Upon arriving, he bought himself a Martin acoustic guitar and buried himself in the process of songwriting.

Although he maintains that the music written for his current solo project are non-autobiographical in nature, the stories told within these melodically dissonant alternative songs are in lockstep with his own personal experiences of grief, addiction, and the taxing process of weighing your own morality against a culture mired in ideological flux.

His singles "Rosella's Condition" and "Iron Vein" can be streamed everywhere, and you can frequently catch his band (billed as "David Gillespie") performing their high energy sets around the Charlotte area."
