About Heart On My Sleeve:
"Heart On My Sleeve leads a culture of emotional authenticity; building a world where saying “I’m not ok” is a sign of strength.
If we normalise speaking authentically about our mental health, we'll eradicate the shame that stands between people and the help they need.
We create educational resources, run stigma busting campaigns and create safe spaces to eradicate any shame & loneliness associated with mental health, boost human connectivity rates, and reduce suicide globally."
About Mitch:
Mitch Wallis founded HOMS in 2017 after 2 decades of living behind a mask, pretending that he was not suffering the impacts of significant mental illness.
By his mid 20s, he was professionally thriving, having rocketed to success from the youngest intern at Microsoft to global product manager. Underneath the accolades lurked symptoms that became impossible to ignore. Following a life-threatening breakdown in 2016, Mitch extracted himself from his corporate career and began to get real, began to heal. In his darkest hour, he had made a promise that he would dedicate the rest of his life to helping others if he could make it through. One of the things that Mitch credits for helping him on the path to recovery was hearing someone else’s personal story. Knowing that he could relate made him feel less alone, it helped to remove the shame. Story sharing remains one of the key pillars of the Heart On My Sleeve movement, in the hope that we can reach many others, and have a lasting, life-saving impact on them.
