Finding Art Workshop #2 – Festival of Everyday Art
Event description
Help turn the city into a giant outdoor art gallery in this 4-hour behind-the-scenes experience with artists Claire and Pablo from PeopleLab.
PeopleLab make art gallery labels that draw attention to interesting things (like a tree that looks like it’s dancing, or a hilarious bin). They then run public events where people go and stick those labels in place.
This year – as part of the Festival of Everyday Art – PeopleLab invite you to be part of their devising process. You’ll explore the nooks and crannies of the city – looking up, down, inside and behind. You’ll discover details that surprise and delight you, then invent titles for these everyday artworks.
After the workshop Claire and Pablo turn your discoveries into physical labels for their Public Art Treasure Hunt and Trail events the following week, where your findings will be shared with the world.
“We love doing this bit because we feel like tourists in our own town and find amazing things in mundane places”, says Pablo. “So we made this workshop to give people that same joy of discovery. And because your ideas and perspectives will make our art better!”
“I really liked the structure. It was clear and easy to understand. The two hours scouting were so cool. I enjoyed observing details from the place where I live, but sometimes forget to have fun.” - Previous participant
