THIS IS A YOGA ALLIANCE 10.5 CEU COURSE

Your Teacher ~ Michele Loew

Michele Loew is an international yoga teacher & practitioner of Hatha & Tibetan Yogas, & the founding director of the Vajra Yoga School of Comparative Buddhist & Indic Yogic studies she co-teaches with Professor Robert A.F. Thurman at Menla & abroad. Based in Portland, Oregon, she has taught, practised, & studied avidly since 1998, and continues to run her longtime yoga school and beloved studio, The Yoga Space. Her love and commitment to the unexcelled yoga tantras of Vajrayana is a path we can take toward perfect enlightenment and the integration of those teachings with the Hatha yogas more broadly practised today, seeing both as powerful and not separate extensions of one another infuse her work with great joy & commitment to a more compassionate and awakened world. She honours the lineage of teachers she comes from and bows to her longtime Hatha & Classical Yoga teacher, Richard Freeman for elucidating the middle path of love with the utmost clarity and kindness. To Robert Thurman, her beloved principal teacher in Buddhist science and her root guru His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the most profound bow for empowering her in the anuttara yogas. Michele teaches regular classes and 200 & 500 YA training in Yoga & Yoga Nidra in Portland & New York, as well as retreats and workshops internationally.

The Course - The Illuminated Subtle Body

Dive deep into your Yoga practice and energetic centre in this exploration of the subtle body based on classical Yoga teachings. This workshop will incorporate classic Hatha yoga techniques to align and charge the energy centres of the body. Gain an understanding of the Kundalini shakti, Prana Dharana, the three main bandhas and Pranayama.

                                                   SATURDAY

The Root of It All - Illuminating our Muladhara and Svadhisthana Chakras, deep hip opening and Mula Bandha. The first day covers the first 2 chakras while focusing on the sacrum and pelvis. We practice hip openers relative to Mula Bandha and contact the cranial sacral system relative to the energetics of the body's deep life force, kundalini.

Kundalini and The Fire Centre ~ At the Navel - Meditations and Asana practices for understanding and raising our creative power and illuminating the 3rd Chakra. Including an asana practice focusing on the core and developing Uddiyana Bandha. Beginning to explore the subtle body - the flow of nadis, prana and movement through the chakras. There will also be a continued lecture on Kundalini, and we will explore the Kriyas, including Uddiyana Bandha Kriya.

                                                    SUNDAY

The Lotus Heart - Focusing on the heart chakra, we will practice active and restorative asana, such as back bending to expand the chest, and pranayama to open the robs and lungs. We will use Meditation, Mantra and visualization techniques to heal and awaken the lotus heart.

Awakening Our Inner Voice - The throat chakra - purification practices in yoga asana and pranayama to illuminate the 5th chakra and our deeper wisdom centers. Asana will include deep work in shoulder stand including restorative versions. Jalandhara bandha will be examined as we deepen our work in Pranayama.

The Third Eye and Crown - In this session we look at the mystical centers in the skull relating to the brain, the sensory organs and the deep consciousness. This day investigates the cranial sutures, the cranial-sacral system and the "master" pituitary gland. Through inversions, meditation and visualization, we contact the pranic rhythms within the subtle body.
