Justice for Refugees SA invites you to this important event held as part of Refugee Week.
Celebrate the dreams and resilience of refugees during this year’s Refugee Week 2024. Refugee Week runs from Sunday 16 to Saturday 22 June.
GUEST SPEAKERS
Senator Sarah Hanson-Young , People with lived experience, Representatives of Circle of Friends 111 (Ann Haren) & 108 (Mij Tanith)
The Senator will be discussing the issues behind the proposed Migration Act Amendment Bill, the politics of ending Australia's cruel response to refugees and people seeking asylum, and how community organisations such as ours can assist in changing the public debate and policy responses to these issues. We will also hear from people with lived experience and the work of Circles of Friends (111 & 108) in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum, including a recent example of the Community Sponsorship program. Following speakers there will be group discussion on how we can disrupt the cruelty and offer hope for the future.
When: Wednesday 19th June, 2024
Time: 6:30 for refreshments for a 7:00 start. Planned finishing time is 8.30.
Where: Effective Living Centre, 26 King William Road, Wayville.
