Finding Your Fit: Creating the Conditions for Belonging
Description
We are all different.
The environments, relationships and experiences that help one person feel energised and connected can leave another person overwhelmed, disconnected or wondering what is wrong with them.
In this interactive 90 minute workshop, precision health and lifestyle coach Claire Akin Smith of Applied Movement will guide you through a practical exploration of the biology, beliefs and behaviours that shape your own experience of belonging.
This workshop is about you
You will explore:
• What appears to be naturally and consistently true about you
• The conditions in which you function and connect at your best
• The differences you may previously have judged negatively
• The beliefs you have developed about who you are and where you fit
• What you tend to do when you do not feel that you belong
• Which parts of yourself may need greater acceptance
• Which learned patterns you have genuine capacity to change
We will look at how protective behaviours can sometimes unintentionally reinforce disconnection, and how small changes in behaviour or environment can create very different experiences.
The aim is not to become somebody else
It is to understand yourself more accurately, appreciate the strengths within your differences and recognise where you have genuine choice.
You will leave with:
• A clearer picture of what helps you feel connected and able to belong
• Something about yourself you may be able to stop fighting
• A belief or pattern you are ready to question
• One practical change you can experiment with in your everyday life
• A greater appreciation that other people may experience exactly the same world very differently from you
You can attend this workshop whether or not you have been to the presentation
The essential Biology, Beliefs and Behaviour framework will be introduced at the beginning, so no previous knowledge or attendance at The Biology of Belonging presentation is required.
If you do attend both, the presentation will give you a deeper understanding of the ideas behind the framework, while the workshop gives you the opportunity to apply them directly to yourself.
