Event description

A fun, fibre workshop for school age children!

We will experiment and play with yarn, fibre, NZ made and recycled materials, learning how to mindfully craft while making cute projects!

In this class your child will be guided by Textile Designer and sustainability advocate, Sophie, to learn the finger knitting technique for accessories and decorations.

Slow, simple crafts are a great way for children (and adults!) to bring balance to the nervous system and to digest thoughts and ideas away from the input of screens.

Mindful creativity is a brilliant skill to learn, helping with regulation, fidgity hands or simply to enjoy completing a project!

I'll also be showing your young ones how to turn their mindful knitting into a range of projects in the workshop or to continue with at home!

Materials & hot choccie will be provided.

Please arrive by 9:25 to allow for signing in and settling

Children under 5 are welcome, but will need to be accompanied by an adult. Focus and dexterity is required, you are more than welcome to stay in with older children to support them and mindfully create together!

To attend the full morning of workshops including finger knitting and felt creations, select the "Textile Treasures" Discounted double workshop option and please include a snack and waterbottle for your child during the changeover.

Sophie is a passionate low tox, slow seasonal living mum of two; advocating for time in nature, creativity and free play. She is a qualified BA Hons Textile Designer who began her career in an ethical textile mill, continued as an apparel buyer and now works from home with her loom and natural product business along side mum life!
