Event description

Come for a guided walk and learn about fire management within our National Parks. Staff from the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Regional Operations team will lead you on a guided walk showcasing the stunning habitats of Black Hill Conservation Park. On the walk, you will learn about the park’s fire history, why burning is important for the Adelaide Hills, and how prescribed burns can support conservation efforts for fire sensitive threatened species such as the Mount Lofty Ranges Chestnut-Rumped Heathwren.

You will be able to see in person the necessity and benefits of prescribed burns as the guides offer their knowledge into the region’s native plants and their need for open spaces and regeneration post fire.

THE WALK

The walk will be along both the Wildflower Trail and Black Hill Summit Trail and will go for approximately an hour.

Although modifications will be made to the walking trail to fit with the theme of the walk, please keep in mind that parts of the Black Hill Summit Hike are a grade 4, so bushwalking experience is recommended.
