Event description

Kauwi-Marnirla Field River Conservation Park is one of the National Parks and Wildlife Service's (NPWS) newest parks, having only been proclaimed in November 2024. Located in the Field River catchment between Sheidow Park and Reynella, the park increases regional protections for native species and habitats, and offers an open, natural space for the community to enjoy.

The Aboriginal co-name, Kauwi-marnirla translates to place of ‘two good waters’ and is pronounced ‘Cowee-ma-rni-rla’.

NPWS Rangers are looking to develop new opportunities for volunteering in the park to assist with conservation efforts. If you are interested, come along and say hello! We look forward to seeing you there.

On Tuesday the 26th of August, NPWS Rangers are hosting an open day. Join us for a Welcome to Country, explore the park on a guided walk, learn about the native vegetation and wildlife, and hear about the history of the region and the future aspirations for park management.

The event will also include an opportunity to get your hands dirty. More information on the event details is to come.

Enjoy a warming cup of tea and some nibbles during the event.

Please keep in mind that Kauwi-Marnirla Field River Conservation Park has areas which increase in steepness and a moderate level of fitness is required to take part in the guided walk and planting session.
