Event description

This year’s Nature Festival theme is ‘flow’, and a perfect way to celebrate the festival is to learn about the Kinipapa (Cooper Creek) floods firsthand from an NPWS Ranger. Come and join us to listen to their stories and honour the energising life force that the floods bring to the Cooper Creek system and beyond.

This event includes a short (500 m to 1 km) walk from the Innamincka township to the Cooper Creek, during which you will hear stories from Rangers, and learn about the local environment and the recent floods.

The walk does not require a high fitness level but please note that it will be on unsteady terrain and sturdy shoes are required.

There is parking available in the town carpark and toilets are adjacent.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Hiking Boots/Enclosed footwear

  • Hat and sunscreen/other weather protection (rain jacket if forecast)

  • Drinking water

  • Any personal medications

  • Snacks

  • Binoculars (optional)

In the case of park closure due to fire danger or other hazardous weather events, the event will be cancelled, and you will be notified via Humanitix.
