Rewilding Ancestral Skills
Event description
Join us for a full day of ancestral craft and reconnection with the land.
Together, we’ll create our own friction fire kits, learn the timeless skill of bringing flame to life by hand, and explore the old ways of tracking, trapping, and tanning with rabbits.
Under guided mentorship, you’ll:
Bow-drill fire-making using Cassinia longifolia for the spindle and board, and seeking bone for the bearing block
Trapping techniques and respectful harvesting practices
Skinning demonstration and ethical wild meat processing
Experience a bark tanning demo using ironbark, with examples of finished hides (as this takes 3-4 weeks)
We’ll move through these practices in rhythm with the land slowing down, observing, and remembering what it means to be human in relationship with the living world.
Throughout the day, we’ll pause for shared meals, quiet moments, and reflections by the fire.
This is more than a skills workshop it’s a return to the roots of connection, awareness, and gratitude for the gifts of the Earth.
