First Light Opening Breakfast

Begin the day beneath the soft morning hinterland sky as we gather for a shared continental breakfast, First Nations storytelling and music.

We are honoured to welcome Jinibara Elder, Aunty Zeitha Jalamala, who will offer a Welcome to Country and share stories of the land on which the festival takes place. This moment invites us to pause, listen, and respectfully acknowledge the deep and continuing connection of First Nations peoples to Country.

Over breakfast, acclaimed First Nations poet Maria van Neerven will share readings from her powerful work and join in conversation with local arts leader Claire Booth. Together, they will reflect on the deep connections between Country, language and kin, exploring memory, resilience, and the enduring strength of community.
