Event description

Join us for a talk and walk with Bunurong Elder Sonia Hume around sites of cultural significance.

About this event

This activity will commence in the Bunurong Environment Centre with a yarn by Sonia Hume about the history of the Bunurong people of Gippsland. You will learn about the lifestyles and habits of the early inhabitants of the area and examine samples of the artefacts they left behind.

You will then travel by your own arrangements to the beach (about six kilometres) where Sonia will lead a gentle walk pointing out items of cultural interest such as middens, indigenous food sources, likely sites for discovering artefacts, etc. There will be plenty of time for asking questions.

Please Note:

  • All attendees including adults accompanying children, all children including under 5yrs and infants must purchase a ticket.
  • Tickets are free for children under 5yrs old and infants.
  • Groups may be up to 25 people.
