First Thursdays: Create a Unique Motif with Lily Eketone

Join us for First Thursdays in Devonport - Te Hau Kapua

Join Lily Eketone for an educational workshop, to share and appreciate Toi Māori and to gain deeper understandings of the Kaupapa around Māori practices. Using pencil and paint on paper, participants will create their own unique motif specific to their own whānau and whakapapa.

Tickets are $20 and cover all materials and light alcohol-free refreshments.
This workshop is suitable for adults. 
Koha will be accepted upon entry.

Lily works in a contemporary Māori context where she explores her connection to her culture and who she is as wahine Māori. Creating works that immortalise the stories of her own and others’ lives and history is what drives her creativity. Connecting to and understanding the beauty of her culture and being able to share this with others is the purpose behind what she does.
