COVID-19 triggered the term “pink recession,” as the Australian Bureau of Statistics has shown that women have suffered disproportionally during the business lockdown and economic downturn in 2020. Either they lost their jobs, especially those who work in industries heavily affected - travel, retail, and hospitality - or they are working from home and have even more pressure balancing work and family commitments.

And this is our new normal. It's not going away anytime soon.

Meet Renata Bernarde

Renata Bernarde is a Job Hunting Expert, Career Strategist, and Host of the Job Hunting Podcast. Her coaching, services and social media presence aim to increase career literacy for professional in the corporate, nonprofit and public sectors. Renata believes that recruitment and selection are structurally biased towards the employer, and her goal is to even out the game by giving the candidate an upper hand. She believes professionals should always invest in their careers to maximize their results and achieve their goals faster.

Renata is also the MD at Pantala, a consultancy platform for portfolio professionals, and the Head of Market Strategy at the award-winning diversity and inclusion firm MindTribes. She is a graduate from both Melbourne and Monash universities and has done executive programs at Melbourne Business School, Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a Member of AICD and a Fellow of the Institute of Management and Leadership.
