Five Minute Pitches with Hachette

Written a book? Want to have it picked up by a commercial publisher? Finding the options limited in Qld?

Here's your chance! Eight lucky writers will have the opportunity to pitch their manuscripts to Hachette at the Island Storytellers Festival.

Prepare your pitch...you have five minutes... and it must include the following information:

• A succinct elevator pitch/one-liner to grab attention.
• A summary of the plot that is easy to follow when presented face-to-face (which is often quite different to a written summary).
• A brief profile of your reader that includes their age (if appropriate), the kinds of books they read/shows they watch/podcasts they listen to. (Hint: provide comparison titles that show you are across the current Australian book market in your chosen genre, and that you’re reading books by Australian authors.)
• A little about yourself.
• A one page summary of your pitch that will be passed along to a commissioning editor if your pitch is successful.
