Fix Club is a regular meet-up for beginner and experienced needle-crafters alike to come together to mend our clothes and household textiles. Our aim is to reduce textile waste while extending the life of our clothes and getting to know each other.

Hole-ridden jeans, ripped shirts and sheets, wobbly buttons, jumpers that have seen better days? They’re all welcome.

You can pick up hints and tips from the more advanced sewists among us, or help those less experienced than you to fix their stuff.

The sessions take place at Windmill Hill Community Association during its social club bar's opening hours, which means we will be sharing the space with its regular punters.

How does it work?

The evening starts with getting to know one another and sharing our current mending projects. There will be an opportunity for those who need some extra help to partner up with more experienced sewists who are happy to share their skills and advice.

We'll spend the rest of the time working on our mends, chatting over tea and biscuits, and sharing our tricky fixing problems and solutions.

Zero confidence in your sewing abilities?

Beginners are very welcome. We hope that Fix Club will give you the confidence to have a go, make mistakes and try again. Questions and requests for help are encouraged.

Does a teacher lead Fix Club?

Fix Club is an informal learning space with communal problem-solving at its heart. You and your fellow fixers are there to help one another. There’s no official tuition from one designated teacher.

Do you provide equipment and materials?

If you have your own sewing basket, please bring it along. You’re also welcome to borrow our bits and pieces. We provide scissors, threads, pins and needles and fabric scraps to help you with your mends.

What's included in the ticket price?

A donation to our hosts, the Windmill Hill Community Association, tea and biscuits and access to our mending equipment, material and books throughout the session.

Please note, drinks other than tea, coffee and water will be available at an additional cost from the social club bar which opens at 20:00.

There is a 'pay what you can' option for anyone who can't afford this additional cost at the moment.

On the day

Please arrive as close to 19:30 as possible. We meet in the small hall, which is on the left as you go in.

There is on-street parking, but as it can be difficult to find a spot we recommend coming by foot, bike or public transport if possible.

Public transport: The nearest bus stop is Dalby Avenue (routes M1/43/74/75/76). The nearest station is Bedminster. Both include a steep 5-10-minute climb up the hill.
