Fixated: An Idée Fixe Seafood Session
Description
In French, "idée fixe" means a fixation: an obsession that can't be shaken. For Idée Fixe winemakers, that obsession has been sparkling wine. After decades of quietly perfecting traditional-method fizz, they have established a dedicated Blanc de Blancs vineyard in the deep south of Margaret River. There, Karridale Chardonnay, chilled by Southern Ocean winds, makes some of the country's most exciting bubbles, which is now being crafted at the exclusive Idee Fixe Blanc de Blancs house, situated just south of Margaret River.
Sparkling this good calls for seafood to match, so we've called in Tom and Jerry (no, not the cartoon ones)…
Jerry Fraser, The Oyster King, has spent four decades shucking millions of oysters from London to Perth. Last year the WA Good Food Guide gave him its Industry Leadership Award. He's joined by Tom, of Shucks & Nibs, whose mobile seafood and oyster bar has become a fixture at only the best celebrations. You can expect artfully shucked oysters, plenty of banter, and a little bit of theatre with every shell.
We are very lucky to have winemaker, Brendan Carr on hand providing exclusive access to some cellar door only wines, including individual clones of Blanc de Blancs, their newly released prestige cuvee, the Brut Reserve and still Pinot Noir, something you wouldn't have seen from Idée Fixe before!
Five snacky seafood courses, five Idée Fixe wines, and a steady supply of freshly shucked oysters throughout the session.
So, what's on the table…?
Caviar blinis with crème fraîche and dill, served with Idée Fixe Premier Brut on arrival
WA Fish Ceviche paired with Idée Fixe Davis I10V1 Clone
Skull Island prawns with Idée Fixe Brut Rosé
WA Rock Lobster with Idée Fixe Brut Reserve
Cheese plate to finish with Idée Fixe Pinot Noir
Plus half-a-dozen freshly shucked oysters per person, a combination of Rock and Pacific Oysters
Keep the oyster party going by adding an extra dozen oysters to your ticket for $40
Salty, bubbly and just a little bit decadent. Seats are limited and always in high demand for Jerry’s events, so be sure to get in early.
