Are you flash curious? Keen on micros? Flex your writing muscles in this free Totally Lit workshop with Mabel Gibson presented at Fremantle Library.

The workshop will offer an overview of the form, techniques for writing flash fiction or micro memoir, examples of published stories, and prompts for writing your own flash or micro piece. No prior experience writing in the form is required—come ready for a relaxed, friendly and encouraging session.

About Mabel Gibson

Mabel Gibson is a twenty-five-year-old Yamatji writer. She grew up in Boorloo (Perth), Kinjarling (Albany), and Jambinu (Geraldton). Her work has been published in maar bidi: Next Generation Black Writing (Magabala Books), anthologies by Night Parrot Press, Portside Review and Pulch Magazine. She has sat on panels at Perth Writers Weekend, Ubud Writers Festival, Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival, and Perth Storyfest. Mabel hopes to one day become a publisher and provide opportunities for other First Nations writers. Mabel’s debut collection of micro memoir, CryBaby, was published in 2025 with Night Parrot Press.
