Event description

We respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Dharawal Country, Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

InspireMusic is excited to present Annabel Wouters in her final Emerging Concert Artist Series performance. Annabel began as a young artist in the program in 2022. At the concert, we will have some exciting news about a major performance she will give later in the year. The Emerging Concert Artist Series aims to foster the next generation of musicians by increasing performance opportunities and building audiences who love to hear young artists who are passionate and dedicated to their music and its place in the community.

Her program, 'Flights of Fantasy,' is bound to delight. With music spanning from the Baroque to the 20th Century, it is bound together by a lightness of energy and joy, a style reflective of Anabbel's young age, 16. 'Flights of Fantasy' captures her youthful energy, allowing her virtuosity to shine within a framework of beautiful melodies. Annabel is a local to Wollongong but is already actively engaged in orchestras at the national level and is passing the highest level exams with honours and distinction. At the end of 2023, she won the Wollongong Conservatorium Concerto Competition. Annabel will be joined by Lisa Baraldi, a sought-after collaborative pianist and piano teacher from Wollongong.

Of her performance for her Associate Diploma on flute the examiners wrote:

'This was a mature presentation with a well-developed sound production throughout. Good technical assurance was demonstrated overall, and there was a pleasing sense of melodic shape and direction to your playing. Your ability to tackle today's varying styles was conveyed with good musical awareness. Rich and robust tone colours were used to great effect, along with a clear dramatic arc throughout the entire program. Congratulations.'
