***Kindly note that this HIKE has been designed to promote fitness and will require a decent level of physical fitness to finish. We will maintain a steady pace during this hike, completing 7 kilometres in slightly over two hours. Therefore, we suggest that you carefully review all event information and ensure that you can keep up with the group. If you don't engage in any physical activity during the week or lead a sedentary lifestyle, this hike may not be appropriate for you. Please check our shorter distance hikes at a more moderate pace***

We haven't done this hike for at least 6 months, and we are thrilled to share it with you all. This hike offers breathtaking views across Bass Strait from the dramatic black basalt cliffs, which are impressively high!

Our plan is to visit Cairns Bay and then head to Flinders Blowhole and back. The track can be steep in places, so it requires good leg strength and the ability to handle a steep incline. Although the distance is shorter than usual, I guarantee you'll get a solid workout and absolutely love this hike! It will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete.

This hike is rated intermediate and is not suitable for beginners. A moderate level of fitness and stamina is required. We maintain a steady pace but do stop occasionally for photos and snacks.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE WALK:

- You will return to your cars at the end

WHAT TO BRING:

- Water

- Snack. Ie: Banana, high protein snack, Jam sandwich.

- Electrolyte energy drink

- Insect repellant

WHAT TO WEAR:

- A good pair of walking shoes is necessary, which could be hiking shoes or boots. It is recommended to avoid jogging runners as they may not provide enough grip, although it is not a strict requirement. No open toe shoes.

- Decent socks. Ie: a mix of wool, nylon & elastane. Non bulky (Visit hiking stores)

- Compact lightweight jacket - optional

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This walk is NOT suitable for children under 12, babies in carriers or for people who do not walk more than 5km’s at a time. This is a National Park, therefore no dogs or animals allowed.
