FLING Regional Youth Arts Explosion is part of the Holiday Break Program supported by the Office for Regional Youth in Partnership with Create NSW.

Emma Saunders is an award winning “formidable” (Realtime, 2010) Australian dance artist who works as a director, choreographer, performer, theatremaker, educator, dance curator and producer.

Over the past 25 years she has honed her practice to develop a solid body of work with an interest in the simplicity of dance and the complexity of choreography. Utilising a visceral, instinctive attack, her work is immediate, often working with humour, theatre, everyday movement, text, repetition, deconstruction, scale, site, duration and abstraction.

Emma, co-founded the award-winning Sydney based trio, The Fondue Set, alongside Jane McKernan and Elizabeth Ryan.

After the success of ENCOUNTER, at Sydney Festival 2020 (more on this partnership with FLING & commission by FORM Dance Projects, Emma began her own company, the WE ARE HERE Company.

She now has two cohorts based in Parramatta and Wollongong - each with 11 performers aged between 18 and 48yrs of age.
