Event description

Join us at the River Stage on Gympie Terrace for the official Floating Land 2023 opening;

SATURDAY 24 JUNE, 2 – 5pm.

Shifting its frame of reference with each iteration, Floating Land: Us and Them sets the stage for confronting concepts and uncomfortable conversations, asking visitors to look from another perspective, and have their assumptions challenged.

Opening with a Welcome to Country by Kabi Kabi man, Lyndon Davis, a performance by the Kabi Kabi Dancers, and speakers Mayor Clare Stewart, and Michael Brennan, Director, Noosa Regional Gallery and Floating Land.

A performance by Brotherhood of the Wordless; a unique group of activist writers and poets living with disabilities, their words and ideas brought to life using Facilitated Communication. A not to be missed event.

The inaugural Floating Ideas: the 2023 Floating Land Debate, will see two teams of artists and arts professionals take turns in arguing either for or against the proposition:

Art about identity drives us further apart rather than bringing us closer together.
