Description

Ready to take your flower game beyond the basics?

At Flowers for Jane in Langwarrin, Cassy's monthly Bloom & Style Studio sessions are where you build real technique. The kind that turns "I made a pretty arrangement" into "I actually know what I'm doing."

Whether you want to style flowers from your own garden at home, or you're dreaming of becoming a florist and want real hands-on experience, these classes will take you there.

Each month brings a new skill and a new style, from pedestal centrepieces and native bush arrangements to professionally wrapped bouquets and long table runners. You'll leave with a stunning creation and a technique you can use again and again.

And when the weather's kind (or the design calls for it), we might head out into the garden to forage for foliage together. It's honestly one of the best ways to learn what works in an arrangement.

Cassy began her floristry career in 1997, and she's trained florists on the job along the way. So you're learning from someone who really knows the craft inside and out.

Never done a floristry class before? You're so welcome here. Every class is suitable for beginners. In every session, we'll cover the basics and fundamentals of arranging flowers, the same skills florists use every day in the industry. And if you're keen for more of a challenge, Cassy will share some advanced techniques you can give a go. Take it as far as you like. Work at your own pace, in a small, relaxed group of 8, with all the guidance you need along the way.

School holidays: kids welcome!
During the school holidays, these classes are open to children aged 10 and over, with a supervising adult. The adult doesn't need to join in or pay for a spot, but they do need to stay with their child and help keep an eye on things, like using the flower cutters safely. We're a hobby farm with animals and ponds, and the bathroom is a short walk away in the pool house, so having a grown-up close by keeps everyone safe and happy.

Or why not book a spot for yourself too? It's a really fun school holiday activity to do together, and you'll both go home with something beautiful.

What's included:

  • Fresh seasonal flowers, foliage and all materials (unless specified below)

  • Use of our class tools (or bring or buy your own)

  • Tea, coffee and refreshments

  • 10% off any purchases on the day (giftware, cutters, candles, extra flowers and more)

  • Small classes of just 8 people in a welcoming studio space

Perfect for:

  • Complete beginners who want to learn proper technique from the start

  • Home gardeners who want to style their own home-grown flowers

  • Anyone who loves having fresh flowers around the house

  • Aspiring florists wanting real hands-on experience

  • Anyone who's done a beginner class and wants to build on it

  • Those planning a wedding or event who want hands-on styling skills

  • Parents and kids (10+) looking for a creative school holiday activity together

  • Small groups of friends after a fun, flower-filled morning (pair it with lunch at a Mornington Peninsula winery and make a day of it)

OCTOBER class

Wednesday 28th 10am - Floral handbag

Get a bit wild and go viral on socials showing off your skills creating a on trend floral handbag. Make it 'basic and bold' perfect for floristry beginners. If you're feeling up for a challenge, I'll share how to include some wired whimsy with some 'dancing' blooms on decorative wire.

NOVEMBER class

Wed 25th November 10am - Vintage Inspired Vase of flowers

I love my vintage 'cut glass' and crystal vases so it was only natural that when I saw this cut glass vase at the wholesaler I had to use it in a class. Vintage inspired blooms looking like they are picked straight from the garden. Matching quirky colours and flower varieties just like in mother nature. Vase included for you to take home and feel free to bring any flowers or foliage from your gardens to include in yours.

January: Dreamy Flower Pot Arrangement
Start the year with something soft, loose and full of summer. Using floral foam in a flower pot, you'll learn how to build a dreamy arrangement, layering foliage and blooms so it looks like it's spilling out of a garden. Perfect for a sunny windowsill, a kitchen bench or a gift for someone special.
You'll learn: working with floral foam, layering for fullness, creating that relaxed garden look

February: See you in March!

March: The Pedestal Centrepiece
A pedestal arrangement instantly makes a table feel special. You'll learn how to create shape and movement in a footed vessel, with flowers that sit high and trail gracefully over the edge. Great for dinner parties, entertaining at home or event styling.
You'll learn: shape and balance, focal flowers, creating movement and trailing lines

April: Bouquet Bar Basics: Styling Long Stems in a Vase
Ever bought a bunch of flowers and not known what to do with them? This class is for you. You'll learn how to choose, prep and style long-stemmed flowers in a vase so they look effortless and last longer. A really handy everyday skill, especially if you grow your own.
You'll learn: flower prep and conditioning, choosing the right vase, styling for height and balance

May: No class
See you in June!

June: Whimsical Foam-Free Vessel Arrangement
Learn how florists create beautiful, natural arrangements without floral foam. If you joined us in January, this is a great chance to compare the two techniques. Using reusable mechanics, you'll build a whimsical, free-spirited design that looks like it's just been gathered from the garden. Better for the planet, and honestly, so much more fun.
You'll learn: foam-free mechanics, natural shape and movement, working with texture

July: The Hand-Tied Spiral Posy in a Vase
The spiral hand-tie is one of the most important skills a florist learns. You'll master the technique step by step, then style your finished posy in a vase. Once you've got it, you'll use it again and again.
You'll learn: the spiral technique, binding, trimming and styling your posy in a vase

August: Native Bush Flower Arrangement
Celebrate the beauty of Australian natives. You'll work with textural, hardy bush flowers and foliage to create a striking arrangement with real character. Natives last beautifully, so you'll get to enjoy this one for a long time.
You'll learn: working with natives, texture and contrast, building structure with strong stems

September: Bold Statement Blooms in a Tall Vase
Go big this spring! You'll learn how to style dramatic, statement flowers and branches in a tall vase for real wow factor. Perfect for entryways, events or anywhere that needs a showstopper.
You'll learn: working with height and scale, supporting tall stems, creating impact with fewer flowers

October: The Front-Facing Bouquet: Wrapped Like a Pro
Learn to create a front-facing bouquet and wrap it just like a florist does. You'll design with one best side forward, then finish it with a professional wrap that's ready to give. A must-have skill for gifting, or for aspiring florists.
You'll learn: front-facing design, professional wrapping techniques, finishing touches

November: The Table Runner Arrangement
Get ready for the festive season with a long, low table arrangement that runs down the middle of your table. You'll learn how to build length and flow so the whole table feels styled. Perfect for Christmas lunches, celebrations and long summer dinners.
You'll learn: creating a low, elongated design, keeping it balanced from every angle, styling a table

December: Christmas Flowers
Finish the year with a festive Christmas creation using seasonal flowers and foliage. The design will be revealed closer to the date, so keep an eye out! It's a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit, and you'll take home something beautiful to decorate your home or give as a gift.
You'll learn: festive design, working with seasonal Christmas foliage and accents

NOTE: Flowers for Jane is set on a 2.5acre hobby farm, so you can expect a few furry friends (including Roxy the Border Collie) to say hello.
