Florist
Event description
Jet Black Cat presents Florist
In Aus for some incredible shows, including Meredith, we are very excited to be hosting them at Gang Gang
Emily Sprague is the singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter of Florist (USA), formed in the Catskill Mountains of New York where Emily grew up and currently resides. For 15+ years Sprague has been observing emotional and mystical inner worlds through songwriting. As Florist, Sprague documents life through vulnerable and at times unconventional folk-pop songs that aim to offer a sense of calm within the chaos of existence. Each song is imbued with tender, quick-witted thoughts. Florist will be heading on tour across Australia this November & December, featuring lots of special guests along the way, in regions and spaces that align with the magic of Florist and their music.
With Jellywish, Florist’s fourth full-length work, they invite listeners to question everything – to imagine a world where magic, surrealism, and the supernatural are our companions in day-to-day life. Jellywishes to present a realm of possibility and imagination in a time that feels evermore prescriptive, limiting, and awful.
Emily says that the record is purposely complicated.“Itʼs a gentle delivery of something that is really chaotic, confusing, and multifaceted,” she explains.“It has this technicolor thatʼs inspired by our world and also fantasy elements that we can use to escape our world.”
