Flow Fundamentals 4 Week Mini Series
Description
Early bird discount available until the 21st of October.
This is a 4 week series, consisting of 4 x 2 hour workshops, designed to help you develop the skills, technique and confidence to find your flow and feel more connected to your movement.
Thursday 26 November, 3 December, 10 December and 17 December. 6-8pm
Whether you are a beginner learning how to pole dance or an experienced dancer who feels stuck, lost or like something is missing in your flow, this series is for you.
We'll be slowing things down and diving into the fundamentals that are often overlooked when learning the basics. From heel technique and weight transfers to slides, glides, waves and floats, we'll break down individual skills in detail, exploring how to execute them with greater control, fluidity and intention.
This series isn't about learning a bunch of new moves or reinventing the wheel. It's about developing a deeper understanding of the fundamentals, building your technical knowledge and refining the little details that make a huge difference to your flow.
A big focus throughout this series will be heel technique and learning how to use your whole body to create movement when you dance.
Each week we'll build on the skills from the previous session, progressively developing your skills and putting what you've learnt into practice through a gorgeous low flow choreography. You have time in between workshops to digest, practice and become more comfortable with each skill before building on it the following week. In our final session, we'll refine and polish our routine, bringing everything together and allowing you to really feel the movement in your body.
Each workshop will start with a full body warm up and skill specific conditioning exercises catered to what we will be learning that day. Here's a little overview of what we will be exploring each week:
Week 1: The Basics
Walks, pirouettes, waves and an introduction to fundamental heel technique.
Part 1 of choreography
Week 2: Slides, Glides and Transitions
Exploring smooth, controlled movement and transitions, with a focus on travelling through space and transitioning from standing to floor.
Part 2 of choreography.
Week 3: Low Flow & Floorwork
Learning how to move around the base of the pole, exploring foundational floorwork movements and developing smooth transitions from floor to standing.
Part 3 of choreography.
Week 4: Floats & Sequences
Exploring floats, developing softness and control and working on slightly more challenging sequences. We'll bring everything together to refine and polish our choreography, putting all the skills we've learnt into practice.
