Autumn Honey Harvest
Event description
Autumn is here! One of the most exciting times of the year for beekeepers.....the LAST HONEY HARVEST BEFORE WINTER SHUT DOWN (from one of Burnetts hives)...Not only do you get to watch the honey flow straight from the hive to the jar, you also get to taste the liquid gold!Â
Spend an hour with Rachael from Bee Inspired demonstrating the brilliant Australian invention of the Flow Hive. This hive has enabled visually anyone to have honey bees in their backyard and harvest their own honey throughout the year.  Rachael from Bee Inspired is an authorised Flow Hive Reseller in the Illawarra. She has been beekeeping for 6 years and currently manages 15 Flow Hives around the Kiama LGA. She also coaches other beginner beekeepers, runs workshops at Burnetts, does Bee & Pollination talks at local schools, runs "Bee Experience" events for corporate and private groups,  sells her honey locally. All the honey and honeycomb produced onsite at Burnetts on Barney is sold onsite. Â
Burnetts on Barney has been producing its own honey over the last year, and it's the perfect time to celebrate the END OF THE HONEY SEASON. The hive we will harvest from is onsite at Burnetts, safely away from the live bees in the Apiary.Â
If you haven't see the magic of the Flow Hive invention, love bees and honey, or just keen to learn about something truly unique, COME ALONG THIS SATURDAY! Everyone welcome. Adults tickets $35. Children are FREE
Burnetts home-grown honey is on sale at The Quarry Cafe, along with a whole load more goodies baked onsite by the fabulous Cafe crew.Â
